Roehnna Velasco
Roehnna “Wena Velasco” Bass Player of Cowgirls From Hell, and Vic Viper.
My music journey began at a very young age. I went to music school when I was 8 yrs old to learn Organ/Piano. At the age of 15, I picked up the bass guitar and ever since then, i never want to master any other instrument other than the Bass. I fell in love with it and after years and years of playing, i’m still constantly learning new techniques and developing my playing skills.
I grew up in the Philippines where i started doing session bass. I started by playing in entertainment bands (Top 40) and then switching to Rock/Metal later on. I sessioned with Greyhoundz, Agape, Artstrong Clarion (I-Dren), and Menaya. I also started writing with my original band “Embryo” back in 2004 and started an all female band “The Scandals” with Caren Tevanny, Bea Lao, Cherry Malaya. I have played in different venues and big shows in the Philippines including Pulp Summer Slam 2006 and also started a Music Production “M.U.T.E” (Music Under The Edge).
When i moved back here in US, i still did a lot of session bass for different artist and with different type of music (Hawaiian, Ska band, Funk/Reggae). I joined a band called “One Theory” in 2008-2010 and recorded music with them as well. I also had a chance to work with other San Diego musicians/bands (Aizen, Blood Dancer, Mursic, etc.). I am still available for session work (live, studio, and tour). As of right now, i’m playing bass for Cowgirls From Hell (All Female Pantera Tribute band), and Vic Viper (Note for Note instrument per channel NES and GB video game music covers). I’m also doing a Bass Duo Project “TEAM BASS” on the side with another bass player “John Knoell” and currently working on a bass solo album coming out 2016.
