Kyetana (Tawney) Arredondo
Born and raised in Santa Monica, California, Tawney Arredondo is a professional guitarist of 16 years and an extreme vocalist of 10 years. She began playing music at the age of 12 when she joined her middle school concert band and advanced through her courses as an Oboeist, French Hornist and Percussionist. She was also the Drumline Captain of her division in her Highschool Marching band which attributed to her early passions for “aggressive” playing. Within her years of musical education/engagements, she took to playing a family member’s old acoustic guitar as a hobby. A hobby that would soon prevail as a dominant passion among her other instrumental capabilities.
In the summer of 2009, Tawney and her friends created what is now the well established, Los Angeles based death metal band ‘Harlequin’. Due to not being able to appoint a vocalist at the time, Tawny shifted her position within the band to cover vocals and play guitar as temporary, but eventually committed herself to the role of ‘frontwoman’ for the band. Her love for expressing rage, fury and passion ablaze through the fierce brutality that is death metal is what fueled her ardor towards writing viciously evocative music.
Going on 9 years strong, her band Harlequin has made considerable accomplishments such as releasing a full length album in 2016 entitiled “Masochistic Salvation”, a west coast US tour supporting it’s release and have taken part in countless festivals, interviews and press coverage. Tawney is currently active with her musical engagements and her band Harlequin and is currently writing a new EP with a partially new line up. She is also writing and playing guitar for her second and upcoming band “Decimation of Gods”.
